At my age, there is a lot of pressure to have your future figured out. My high school is constantly planning college visits, even back when I was a sophomore (just after I turned 15 years old). And for each of those college visits, I had to fill out forms with details about my intended major. It was very overwhelming and I felt stressed. The future can be very overwhelming to think about.
Now, I'm pretty sure I have my major figured out. So a bit of that pressure is relieved. However, I still don't know where I will be going to college, and while I do know my major, I don't know where I will be working once I get my degree. I don't know where I will be living; it could be a dorm, a house, or an apartment. There are so many unknowns and honestly, it kind of scares me. Thinking about the future is important, but I find it very stressful with so many unknowns.
As I was thinking about the future and how stressful it is, I decided it was time to turn to Scripture. I looked up some verses about trusting the Lord, and wow! There are so many great verses about this. Here are a few of them.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding." (Proverbs 3:5)
"Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act." (Psalm 37:4-5)
"And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28)
"In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." (Proverbs 3:6)
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?" (Matthew 6:25)
And my personal favorite, Psalm 46:10. “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” No matter what happens in life, God is God. He will be exalted. And I know that even when I mess up, it's part of his plan, and I can become a better person through it.
I hope you were encouraged as much as I was with these verses. The Lord has a plan, and even when we feel stressed and we don't know what is going to happen, He is sovereign. Trust in Him!
