Another month has gone by. What a crazy month it's been! It seems the days are going faster and faster. Hopefully someday it slows down and I can catch up with everything! Now that March is over and April has begun, I'm shifting my focus to a new goal. But first, I'm going to review how I did last month.
Last month's goal: Memorize more Scripture. This went okay. It definitely could have been better. But it could have been worse as well. I'm not going to post the whole verses I memorized as that would take up a lot of space, but I did memorize all the verses that people asked me to, which were Psalm 23 (the entire passage), Romans 5:8, Galatians 5:22-23, and Ephesians 6:10-11. I also memorized Matthew 6:33 and John 1:12 , and learned the references to a few verses I already knew, such as Isaiah 9:6. The month is over, but I know I still should be learning much more, so I will continue to be memorizing scripture.
This month's goal: Be more patient! Patience is quality trait I want the most of but have the least of. To me, and I'm sure many others, impatience is quite a struggle, especially when it comes to family members. For me, it's my siblings. They can be great sometimes. But I know anyone with siblings will agree with me: sometimes they just drive you nuts! Siblings know just which buttons to push and what annoys you the most, and if they're in a bad mood, they'll do it on purpose! Often, even when they aren't trying to be doing anything, I'll be the one in a bad mood, and they will still get on my nerves. That's not okay, and that's what I want to change this month. I know most of the time they are just being themselves and they aren't doing anything wrong, but I'll snap at them, whether because I'm in a bad mood, stressed, or whatever. I want to be more patient towards my siblings.
There are a great many verses about patience. For example, Ephesians 4:2 reads "Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love." Proverbs 14:29 says "Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly." And in 1 Corinthians 13, frequently called the Love Chapter, says that "Love is patient..." (v. 4) Jesus also says that the two greatest commands are to love God and love your neighbor, and that every command in the Law is based on these two commands. (Matthew 22:36-40)So if being patient is a part of being loving, it's definitely very important!
So that's what I'm doing this month. I'm going to be praying that God will help me become more patient and show it in my life. And I know that He is faithful!
