Give Thanks: Part 3

So here it is. The last post in my "Give Thanks" series. It was great to write and I hope you guys got something out of it. I always try to make my blog posts mean something. I'm not writing to write, I want to make a difference, and I feel that at least right now, this is the best way to do it. This week, I'm feeling thankful for
God's mercy.

I mess up a lot. There are many days I wonder what I'm doing. I fail over and over again, and I wonder if I can ever break the cycle. But no matter what I do, no matter how bad I feel or how great the mistake, God still loves me and God still forgives me.

Have you ever thought about just how much sin God has had to deal with? I mean, there have been trillions and trillions of people on the earth. Who knows how many? And they all sin many many times. How many sins has God put up with over time? It's crazy to think about. And yet he still forgives me, every single time I mess up. His mercy is never ending, and I'm so grateful for it!

"But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us a live in Christ even when we were dead in our transgressions -- for it is by grace you have been saved." (Ephesians 2:4-5) Think about it. Where would we be without Him? There is absolutely nothing we can do that could save us. It is ONLY because of His mercy. It's unfathomable. I know for some people, myself included, we so often take this for granted. Perhaps you've gone to church your whole life, and this has been drilled into your head for years. "Yeah yeah, God's merciful, I know, whatever." But it is so much more than that.

If it weren't for Jesus' sacrifice, we would all be dead!! "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23) When Jesus died on the cross, He took the punishment for ALL of your sins, along with the sins of everyone else! Imagine how much he must have suffered. All those sins from all those people... And yet he still did it, because He loved you! Remember that the next time you are going through a tough time. Jesus suffered for YOU. There's a reason for that! Never forget what He has done.
